Every foreigner who enters Egypt on a tourist visa is entitled to a limited stay, usually up to 30 days per entry. What happens next depends on one institution above all: the Passports, Immigration and Nationality Administration, known in Egypt as Gawazat. It issues entry visas, extensions and residence permits, and it is also the authority that rejects applications, imposes overstay fines and places entry bans. A visa lawyer who knows its procedures, forms and appeal channels is the difference between a quick correction and a long bureaucratic dead end.
The most common cases we handle are visa rejection at an airport or embassy, overstaying after a visa expires, entry ban notices after prolonged overstay, blocked exit permits, and tourists who decide to stay longer than 30 days and need an extension or a change of status. In every one of these situations the clock matters: applying before your current visa expires is far easier, cheaper and safer than fixing an expired status afterward.
We prepare the correct application, the supporting documents and the legal memoranda; we go with you to the Passports office or handle filings on your behalf; and we present appeals directly to the Passports, Immigration and Nationality Administration when a decision goes against you. Because we deal with these cases daily, we know which requests are addressed by the immigration authority and when a no-objection from another department, such as a ministry or the security authorities, is required.
Understand the visa available to you before you travel — see our full Egypt visa guide and the breakdown of Egypt visa types. If you have already overstayed, read what you actually face in our visa overstay penalties guide. If you want to stay longer than your 30 days, the tourist visa extension guide explains the routine path. For students joining a program in Egypt, our student visa guide covers study residency. And once your visa questions are resolved, our foreign residency guide explains the long-term residence permits we can secure for you.
